Mones Saad left Egypt and the electronics service shop that he owned and operated in September 1969 to begin a new life and career in America. He settled in Garner. Mones' younger sister, Magda Saad joined him in Garner in 1971. They moved to find a sense of stability and a bright future that a then-tumultuous Egypt could offer. Mones and Magda launched their business, Garner TV & Appliance, in 1977 in the Garner Plaza on N.C. 50. The store lived up to its name, offering the latest in televisions, a vast market that was quickly growing and evolving. The younger brother, Magdy Saad, joined the family business when he moved from Egypt in 1980. The three siblings are still the chief owners and operators of Garner TV & Appliance.
The Saads are continuing the family tradition with Garner TV & Appliance with the next generation. Mones' two children, Amgad Saad and Rita Hines, run the appliance side of the business, while Magda's two sons, Tamer Saad and Adam Saad manage the electronics. Magdy's two children are still in school, but his wife Samia shares in the managerial responsibilities.
